iPod (1st generation)
A 5 GB hard drive, a scroll wheel and FireWire syncing turned a messy MP3 player into something you could actually use. It became the product that carried Apple through the decade.
I remember this iPod well. The shiny chrome back would smudge with fingerprints the moment you touched it, but the overall build quality was excellent. The screen used what looked like the old Chicago font, and it had that manual scroll wheel you physically turned. You charged it over FireWire. Nothing else at the time came close.
